Adding / Configuring IMAP Email Profile in Mac Mail 2.0 Print E-mail

These procedures have been written for the latest version of this client. If you have problems configuring your client, please update your software to the latest version before contacting support.

Attention: Perform the below configuration on one of your email accounts first before applying the configurations to all of your computers.

To update Mail.app, choose "Software Update..." from the Apple menu. Launch Mail.app by either clicking on the Mail icon in the dock or by double-clicking on its icon in the Applications folder. Go to Mail -> Preferences.

1.  Select Accounts.

2.  Click on Create Account (+ sign located lower left of window).

3.  Enter your settings.

  • Account Type:  Select IMAP Account
  • Description: Name your account something descriptive such as "mailnexus mail".
  • Email Address: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it This is the address that your contacts' email program will reply to your messages.
  • Full Name Enter your full name as you would like it to appear on the messages that you send.
  • Incoming Mail Server: This is the incoming server. This field should be set to imap.mailnexus.com
  • User name: Enter your complete email address in this field.
  • Outgoing Mail Server: This is the outgoing server. Click on the double up and down arrows and select Add Server.....

  • For Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.mailnexus.com
  • Set Authentication to "Password".
  • Enter your complete email address in this field and Password into the appropriate boxes. Click on OK to save your changes.

NOTE: "yourdomain.com" is an example, if your domain name were "ABCcompany.com", you would enter "ABCcompany.com" into the field.

If you discover your ISP is blocking port 5125, chances are they are also blocking port 25. Either one should work, though it is more common that port 25 be blocked.  You will need to call your ISP and ask them to open port 5125 for you. Otherwise, you will have to change back to using your ISPs outbound email server.

4.  Click on the Advanced tab.

5.  Make sure the following boxes are checked:

  • Enable this account Include this account when checking for new mail Note: make sure the port is set to 143

  • Click on the Special Mailboxes tab. Under this tab you have the option to store draft and sent messages on the server. If you do not check the box they will be stored on you local machine and you will not have access to them from other machines.

Your account is now configured to receive and send mail.
